The journey comes to the end

What a relief...I am nearly reaching the end of the road. It is time for me to check all the tasks that have been given by the lecturer. This week I have to finish up my online task 3 as well as task 4 for the coming weekend. Not forget to my Research Paper...a 4000 words task as my final task for this subject. A great relief for me and my friends because we are not going to sit for the final examination of this subject. So we have plenty of time to study for the other subjects (we are going to sit for four papers) and we have to the the presentation as well. I really hope that I can gain a lot of new knowledge from this semester and I pray to God that I can go through and finish up all the courses with flying colours (hopefully). 11th of April is the due date for all of our tasks and then we have two weeks to prepare for the final examination. It is for sure to look back all the notes, all books and other references besides having so much work in school and at home. A bit tired to think about those things but it is a normal life for a distance learner like me to spend half part of learning and the second half for my other deals. Sometimes I feel like I am just like a primary school student that must have the schedule for everyday activities and also being monitored by parents. Although it seems like a tight life for me but it is also an enjoyable moment to be like a kid again; learning, reads books, sits for exam...I stronngly feel that learning does not stop til death. Wise knowledge is important to anyone of us in ths world to guide us to be ore responsible to the others. It is good to see all the people with the great knowledge; towards their God, towards their life, towards everything that is good and gives benefits to make the people themselves to become the great people in this world. I really hope that after all of these, I can further up my studies to the next level...Come on friends! Join me...

Letters

Moving on to the next topic..LETTERS..wow!I like writing letters. It reminds me to those old days where I write and write and write letters. Really hate to write formal letters as they are full of protocols, laws and other formats that can burden me up. What a boring situation when writing those letters. But I feel so merry when writing informal letters...of course love letters are the most important pieces for me. I feel free to express anything on my papers (normally up to four pages at one time). The freedom and joy are coming together when writing letters. It is like doing LEGO toys, joining and attaching part to part. When writing letters, we can express our thought and feeling. Just like I did on the last post "The Rose" where the woman is expressing her feeling. Besides, writing letters can also test our writing skills, how to create an emotion by transferring it on a piece of paper, by using clear black ink and a metal pen with sharp point at the edge. I agree that when writing letters, people will take a lot of time to construct the sentences, to use great wordings, phrases and maybe they will consider some slight mistakes that can make them to rewrite again. At last, they will get their great masterpiece to give it to the receiver...their friends...their love ones....their families...and so on.

The Rose

Erica Jong has created a great poem. The flower has created the feeling of someone towards her love by expressing the conditions of the rose. A great masterpiece by Erica has influenced me that the nature can bring the happiness and sadness to each and every person especially to a woman. It is blended with the emotion of the writer and from my own opinion, I think that the poem acted as the messenger to all the readers. I also feel that it is not use to give all your trust to a man like the woman did in this poem. It brings to a disaster to the woman and from this, she has made her life miserable by giving all her hope to her love one. It is not good to ruin her own self just because of that. It is ok to be in love but the most important is to keep on going positively with her own life.
From her writing...I can conclude that she is a master in writing love poetry and also the poetry with the feminine influences. The combination of words and the phrases showed the excitement to the readers. To "keep in touch" with thes kind of writing, one should try to grab the emotion as possible as he/she can. Two thumbs up to Erica Jong!!!
Ad additon, poem is a good piece of literature component to teach English whether for kids, teens and adults...the great poem considers the good words, lines, stanzas and it brings the meanings which can grab the readers' attention and emotion. The poem readers later can judge the way of the poet's writing style and the messages that he/she wants to bring to the people. It is good to read variety poems from different poets of different backgrounds, different origins and different countries. This is how the readers can get to know more about them. I like to read western poems because it is more free on the style of the writings. Most of them have brought the great messages and values. I do not really care about those words and the sounds of the poems but I really consider about the meanings...It is not just read through the poems but to experiment them.

Legends

What an exhausting day...I did so much work yesterday. My position paper as well as my research paper are on the way. I better concerntrate to my position paper because I have to submit it first. As time passed, I read through my module and I came to the topic LEGENDS...what an interesting topic. It taught me the traditions of all nations. As a Malay boy, a lot of legends came out in my mind not only in my place but also from others. I've heard a lot from my friends as well but the oldies were the experts in telling legends. We've Hang Tuah, Puteri Gunung Ledang and many more. Not only people, but animals like the dragon in Tasik Chini and the white mousedeer in Malacca.
Legend or legenda means "things to be read". The word legenda is originally a Latin word and now it is borrowed into Malay word. It is actually a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to take place within human history and to possess certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude.
From the module that I have, I read through about Le Mort d'Arthur by Thomas Malory. There are seven chapters and it tells about the journey of King Arthur.
Talking about it, how about the Greek Mythology? I really love to read the legends from the Greek. I have found that it is interesting although I feel that it is unlogic...Hahaha!!! A lot of monsters, dragons and demons in the mythology bring the excitement and enjoyment.

The Fox and The Crow

Hmmm...Fables are kind of short and simple stories with values. Good! I like reading them. It taught me to be aware of anything around me. It doesn't mean that fables are good for the young generations as it presented them with colourful illustrations and animations, big printed texts and came with variety of sizes (small books and big books) but it also attracts the adults and oldies to read. As I have concerned, my nieces and nephews and also my little daughter love fables very much (of course because of its colourful pictures and drawings), but it's more than that. I enjoyed myself reading "The Fox and The Crow". Not ony I can read the story in a printed material but I can read it online. It's alco came in Malay version with a slight alteration for example cheese to meat, on a tree to on a fence. I can also watch it as on the TV and online videos. Sometimes I feel that I'm in the story because of the fun of reading or watching it. The beautiful setting and scenery as well as the characters (the two animals) brought me closest to the nature's life, maybe I can do a research of animals as part-time like the National Geographic. As conclusion I just can say poor Ms.Crow, acting without thinking...why you just simply trust a stranger like Mr.Fox. He is just playing with you for his own benefit. "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese, I will give you a piece of advice for the future. "Do not trust flatters." The dialogue of Mr.Fox taught me to always be careful on whatever I do.

Position Paper vs Research Paper

Right now I have reached to the starting block of writing my position paper. I have to select a text that I really love. I think I want to do the short story by Chinua Achebe entitled "Dead Men's Path"or William Faukner's "Barn Burning". I have read these stories and I have learnt about it a year ago. I have to recall my brain and start searching for the information of these stories. It is a 1000 words task and I need to write my stand or the thesis statement as well as 3 supporting details to support my stand. It should be refuteable, that means not too obvious and already generally accepted as the truth. It is also should be controversial, short and consice. I can put the excerpt or the play of words if impossible to support mt stand. I think that is enough for this time. I have to start my position paper...better take a rest first...

Hi, we meet again. Huh!I feel so exhausted because I did my assignments during the Chinese New Year holidays...right now I have to plan my Research Paper. I have to recognize two stories that I really love and start writing. Of course! I have to do my research towards both stories.

Areas in literature II...

Hi...we meet again. For this time I like to share about the SHORT STORY and DRAMA. I found out that I have to fill in my knowledge of the short story by making research from the book, the web as well as to ask my coursemates and my tutors...later, I wrote here what the short story is:

SHORT STORY is a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, often in narrative format. It tends to be more pointed than longer works of fiction such as novellas and novels or books. The definitions based upon length differ somewhat even among pro writers, due somewhat in part to the fragmentation of the medium into genres. Since its format includes a wide range of genres and styles, the actual length is mitigated somewhere between the individual author's preference and the submission guidelines elevant to the story's actual market. Many short story writers define their work through a combination of creative, personal expression and artistic integrity. Many attempt to resist categorization by genre as well as definition by numbers, finding such approaches limiting and counter-intuitive to artistic form and reasoning. As a result, definitions of the short story based upon length splinter even more when the writing process is taken into consideration.

Meanwhile, the DRAMA is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance (from the Greek word meaning "action"), which is derived frm "to do". The enactment of drama in theatre erformed by actors on a stage before an audience, presupposes collaborative modes of production and a collective form of reception. The structure of dramatic texts is directly influenced by this collaborative production and collective reception.
